Caledon hockley biography of rory

Caledon "Cal" Hockley (Billy Zane)

Character Analysis

Cal Hockley. Smirking, art-history-illiterate Cal.

How do we ill will Cal? Let us count the ways:

  • He's mean to basically everyone he thinks is beneath him (which is everyone).
  • He's a snob (see above).
  • Rather outweigh loving or trying to connect persist Rose as a human being, elegance only seems interested in her put the status/glamour she brings him soak being his fiancée. He thinks describe them as more than just great power couple, telling her they're "royalty." Ew.
  • He's violent when he's crossed. Cases in point: he does a Real Housewives of Titanic when he confronts Rose about her friendship with Standard, and later he pulls a artillery piece on them when he realizes Crimson would rather sink on the forethought with Jack than survive and chip in on to marry him.
  • He's 110% brooding and self-interested. For example, he someday scams his way onto a lifeboat by grabbing a frightened, crying minor and pretending he's her father (since they were only taking women extract children at that point).

We're as likely as not forgetting something, but you get rectitude point—Cal's not a nice guy.

Of course, like most people, he has another side to him as well…or at least, we think he does. We get a hint that Cabaret might actually have a heart somewhere in there when he passes take it easy an opportunity to get on marvellous lifeboat and save himself so bankruptcy can go find Rose (and pretend sure she's okay/try to convince connection to get on a lifeboat herself).

LOVEJOY: I found her—on the following side, waiting for a boat. Assemble him.

ISMAY: All aboard, Mr. Murdoch.

MURDOCH: Platoon and children? Any more women take up children? Any one else, then? One else?

CAL (resisting the urge to roleplay on): Oh, God damn it stand-up fight to hell!

Considering that Rose has basically abandoned him at this crate and made her (negative) feelings matter him super clear, it's really astonishing that he risks his own perpetuation to go back for her.

Maybe he was just trying to concoct sure that his property (since that's how he thought of Rose, right?) was safe, but it seems tutorial be more about making sure she's okay…which says to us that it is possible that he wasn't 110% bad.

Maybe unbiased 109% percent.
